Autopsy Post Services, Inc., was developed in 1986 by Vidal Herrera, a former Los Angeles county Medical Examiner Coroner Investigator. APSI has cultivated a distinguished reputation with the mortuary, hospital, and legal circles by providing a much needed service to families in their time of need. According to the American Medical Association, of the approximately 2.65 million deaths in the U.S., about 10.5 percent are medical malpractice cases, with another 16 percent being misdiagnosed.

The insurance industry, as a matter of policy, does not reimburse for an autopsy, claiming that "medical insurance by definition provides reimbursement for the cost of getting well." With the number of autopsies performed in American hospitals on the decline in the past twenty years, primarily due to the removal of minimum autopsy percentages in hospitals, demand has become so strong for their services, that APSI has plans to franchise throughout the U.S. by offering locations in 72 cities. APSI's mission statement is a strong commitment to the clients that put their trust in them. Vidal Herrera will be at APSI's booth #107 at the Death Care Expo '97 this month in Las Vegas.
